Merlin according to FATE

History

Servant class Caster, his true name is Merlin, known as the Magus of the flowers. He is the court magus of King Arthur, sometimes he was in charge to guide, other times to torment, and lastly help King Arthur to take charge of numerous enemies, like different things. He is a wise man who is not really a human, he is considered half incubus, half human. The illusions are his forte, being able to take the shape of a beast whose interior is not human.

It’s told that his mother was the Welsh princess and his father was a supernatural incubus that lived between the earth and the moon.

Since very young age, Merlin was able to see the future, that’s why his name is known by a lot of people. One of his most recognized prophecies is about the two dragons, one red and one white, that were going to fight each other when they woke up. Those dragons represented Britain and the Saxons and guided by a great king, Britain would conquer over Rome and Gaul.

He left prophesies among them a lot of wars, as the death of the king.

He served Uther Pendragon. Uther was in love with Princess Igraine, the wife of Duke Cornwall, so he requested Merlin's assistance in order to win Igraine's love, although this had the cost that Merlin would take care of his son. Eventually Merlin took over the marriage between Uther and Igraine, as well as taking care of and watching King Arthur from his birth.

It was at that moment that the magician revealed to Uther the prophecy that his son should carry, being the direct successor to the reign of Great Britain. It was then that Artoria was born, with the magical energy of a dragon.

Although Artoria was born a woman, so she could not become the successor of the reign, Merlin was delighted anyway, because he always believed that gender did not matter.

He was very confident, because he knew that as long as Artoria was distanced from the reign, the prophecy would always be fulfilled, she would be the King.

He then left Artoria in the care of Sir Ector, so that he could be educated as a knight.

It is known by anecdotes that Merlin taught many things to the young 'Arthur', he was present during his growth, his figure is recognized with the similarity of a stepfather.

Merlin was also the one in charge of the creation of 'Caliburn' the selection sword, the sword of assured victory. While the knights were just preparing to decide who the future King was, Artoria was close to the sword, determined to take her out, to which Merlin stopped her and warned her that she would lose her humanity once the sword was drawn. She didn't care, because, she knew that would bring smiles to the people.

Regarding the genre of Artoria, Merlin took charge of making her a pseudo-man, for the problem of becoming a king, as well as having a son.

With the power of his clairvoyance, he was able to see the fall of the round table, as well as the future problem in Britain. Just then Merlin left Camelot.

Although just before retiring, he warned Artoria a couple of times about the fall of Camelot, to which she told him that it was not possible and that he also thought that the magician was joking. With that 'positivism', the magician said later that he was going to retire, because a 'terrible witch' was looking for him.

It was there, just before the Battle of Camlann, that the magician went to Avalon. In that immense flower garden, he found an entrance made of stone, he had written the words 'Only the innocent can pass', he went through the door without giving it much importance, and it was until that moment that he realized that it was a terrible trap. Tall and stone walls surrounded him forming something similar to a tower without a roof. He will forever be trapped until the end of the universe, being unable to die. The name of his prison then is, 'Garden of Avalon'. This is the fate of a man who playfully interfered with the fate of a single girl.

By not being able to die, his soul can never reach the 'throne of heroes', then being unable to be a heroic spirit one day.

Personality

A Young man that is like wind blowing over the meadow. Before him any person would let his tension off his shoulders, a refreshing and fair person. Still his lack of seriousness is noted and along with that a lack of responsibility. This magician can be seen as a shady swindler. It is someone rhetorical that looks objectively at the cruelties of the human world turning these cruelties into something brilliant, repeating to himself "Otherwise ... Wouldn't it be fun?".

Despite being a hybrid (Cambion), he has never hated humanity. It should be said that he has a respect beyond the natural. He loves humans, tricks, women, is someone who sees everything in a calm way with that facial expression of "Well, well ~"

He tends to show a perfect and happy personality, a perfect happy boy without a care. But the fact is that he is aware that he does not belong to 'human society' he cannot cross that last step ... the wall called friendship. Even so, he takes charge of protecting and observe the humanity so these humans can reach happiness.

In the end he is a good man, a wise man, but deep inside he is an incubus separated from human society, he is unable to fully sympathize with these, more if he understands them essentially through his emotions. This is his similarity to the beasts.

Regarding his master, he will maintain that attitude he has had with the kings he has guided, only observing how he advances into the future, all this as a 'beautiful sight' for the mage.

"After that, I’ll just do as I always do; disappearing completely from everybody’s memory. Most other things, I can do without much of a fuss. But this alone, I can never get used to."
